1. Choose a sunny location: Most flower bulbs and perennials require at least six hours of direct sunlight per day. As it is with almost everything  it is about location, location, location.

  2. Prepare the soil: Ensure that your soil is well-draining and rich in organic matter. Adding compost or well-rotted manure will also improve soil fertility and you will; benefit with stronger plants and more blooms.

  3. Choose the right bulbs and perennials: When selecting bulbs and perennials, choose plants that are well-suited to your climate. With your bulb grown plants be sure to leave enough foliage on the plant to allow it to continue to grow and store energy for next year's blooms.Summer bulbs or tubers like dahlias are perfect to cut because the more you cut the more new buds it will give you.
