Rembrandt is one of Wendy's Faves this season. Here's what she has to say:
I love Hyacinths for their ability to come back for years in the garden when planted in a sunny spot in well-draining soil. I love them even more for their fragrance. Rembrandt is thought of as the most fragrant Hyacinth available and its deep purple blooms trimmed with white are gorgeous.
Deep purple florets edged with white make Rembrandt a true artistic choice for the spring garden. Pair them with Carnegie and you've got yourself a masterpiece!
Oh, the intoxicating scent of Hyacinths! These bulbs come in a virtual rainbow of colours and are a sure sign that Spring has finally arrived. Hyacinths are early bloomers that send up a single stalk covered in starry, fragrant florets. They make wonderful cut flowers that will literally fill a room with fragrance. They like a rich soil with lots of organic matter in it but they also want dry feet. This means that the soil directly underneath the bulbs should drain well. If yours isn't a well draining soil, make the hole for the bulb a bit deeper and mix sand or gravel into the bottom of the hole - your Hyacinths will be pleased!
