The name says it all! This compact cultivar is a joy to grow and its aromatic flowers, stems and leaves are attractive not only to you, the gardener, but to pollinators as well.

Commonly known as Bee Balm it grows in an especially upright habit with dark green foliage that contrasts beautifully with the flowers. Its toothed, aromatic leaves are used for tea and in salads and it makes a wonderful cut flower. Monarda is attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies and bees, particularly when massed. Be sure to prune to the ground each fall and divide as needed in spring. Bee balm is native to eastern North America, where it can be found growing along riverbanks. Monarda prefers sites with moist soils and full sun but will grow well when some light shade is provided.
