Commonly known as Blazing Star, Liatris spicata produces fluffy purple-flowered spikes. Simply fun to grow!
Blazing Star, do wonderfully in mixed borders. Its flowers are on dense spikes and open from the top of the stalk down. Fine grass-like, bright green leaves arise from a basal tuft which becomes longer in summer. They do not require staking. Liatris belongs to the aster family, with each flower head having only fluffy disk flowers, resembling "blazing stars".
