Perennial of the Year 2012. Silver and green foliage make 'Jack Frost' simply glow in the dark! Jack comes up quickly and looks stunning long into the fall.

Brunnera 'Jack Frost' gets its name from its foliage colour whose silvery colour gives the appearance of a light frosting! Brunnera is commonly known as Bugloss comes from Greek meaning 'ox tongue' and is probably a reference to the roughness and shape of its leaves. Brunnera 'Jack Frost' is a rhizomatous, clump-forming perennial that is primarily grown for its attractive foliage which are silvery white with green veins and a thin green rim around the leaf edges. The basal foliage forms a hosta-like mound of heart-shaped leaves which remain attractive throughout the growing season.

In spring, tiny, light blue with yellow centred flowers rise above the foliage on slender stems. It is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soil in partial shade. Brunnera 'Jack Frost' is intolerant of dry soils and prefers consistently moist, organically rich soils in shady areas. Clumps slowly spread by creeping rhizomes to form thick ground covers.
