Oh, the intoxicating scent of Hyacinths! These bulbs will create a virtual rainbow of colour and are a sure sign that Spring has finally arrived. Hyacinths send up a single stalk covered in starry, fragrant florets. They make wonderful cut flowers that will literally fill a room with fragrance. They like a rich soil with lots of organic matter in it but they also want dry feet. This means that the soil directly underneath the bulbs should drain well. If yours isn't a well draining soil, make the hole for the bulb a bit deeper and mix sand or gravel into the bottom of the hole - your Hyacinths will be pleased!
